Season of Regret - A Full Score Opera - Completed
August, 2008. A full score opera about a family who moves from Romania
to the United States during the turn of the nineteenth century. They
find themselves stranded in Pine Grove, Nevada with broken hearts and
shattered dreams. Through courage, hope, determination and love, a
little girl learns to grow up quickly in a cold and lonely world,
searching for long lost loved ones, and an eternal quest for peace.
This opera took me twenty-one years to complete. The very first
sketches were scored while I was on the playground at Yerington
Intermediate School as a sixth grader. My father, Steve W. Pellegrini,
composed the lyrics/libretto for the opera, and together, we created a
beautiful love story, complete with death, murder, corruption, deceit,
and yes, even ghosts.
Pine Grove Nevada still exists, although in ruins. My distant
relatives came to Mason Valley, Nevada via covered wagons around 1863 -
mostly from Missouri. It was the Wilson family who founded Pine Grove,
and during its heyday, produced an impressive amount of gold from the
mines. Several points of interest are compiled within the opera, such
as the Pendola Bar, Wichmann Station, the cemetery, Sulfur Springs and
Carson City to name a few. Click here to listen to the Overture to Season of Regret.
I will update as soon as we have a date
scheduled for casting auditions, as well as dates for rehearsals and
the world premiere performance.
